The Fox Project – Wildlife Care Coordinator

    Location: Paddock Wood, Kent.

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and hardworking Wildlife Care Coordinator to join our team.

This is a hands-on role within wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, coordinating rescue calls, supporting our volunteer rescuers and helping to ensure the highest standards of care for our wildlife patients.

This is an active, physically demanding role requiring stamina, flexibility and a willingness to get stuck in. No two days are the same, and the successful candidate will need to be adaptable, practical and comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly.

    The role includes:
    • Coordinating incoming wildlife rescue calls and prioritising cases.
    • Organising and supporting volunteer rescuers.
    • Coordinating the daily rescue workload and responding to changing priorities.
    • Meeting rescuers and receiving wildlife patients into our care.
    • Assisting the clinical team with animal care and handling.
    • Supporting and overseeing volunteers working within the hospital.
    • Monitoring patients and reporting any concerns to the clinical team.
    • Responding calmly and effectively to emergencies.
    • Helping to maintain excellent animal welfare standards and ensure the smooth running of the service.
We are looking for someone who:
    • Has previous animal care experience, with wildlife experience highly desirable.
    • Is confident handling animals safely and appropriately.
    • Is kind, caring and compassionate, with a genuine passion for wildlife.
    • Can remain calm, organised and focused under pressure.
    • Has excellent communication and coordination skills.
    • Can prioritise a busy workload, adapt to changing situations and think on their feet.
    • Is confident taking responsibility and making decisions.
    • Works well both independently and as part of a team.
    • Has a strong work ethic and a practical, hands-on approach.
    • Is physically fit and comfortable with the demands of a hands-on role, including lifting and carrying animal carriers, cleaning and maintaining pens, and spending long periods on their feet.
    Working hours

36 hours per week, working a 12-hour shift rota between 9am and 9pm.

The role includes working one weekend in every three, as well as bank holidays. Due to the nature of wildlife rescue, shifts may occasionally run beyond the scheduled finish time. Additional hours may also be required to cover holidays, sickness and particularly busy periods, such as cub season.

If you are passionate about wildlife, thrive in a busy environment and want to make a real difference to the lives of sick, injured and orphaned foxes, we would love to hear from you.
